April Conficker New Virus Day

There are rounds of rumours about the Conficker virus, which is scheduled to go off like a time bomb on April 1st, april food day . It’s been awhile since there’s been a good virus story or scare, but the steps to avoid problems with things like this remain the same:

1. First of all ,make sure that you’ve protected your computer with an anti-virus software, like Norton, McAfee or AVG.
2. Run all of your security patches and updates (in this case, Windows Updates, but all operating systems require patching).
3. Dont use P2P much today. Try to limit downloading .zip or .rar files.
4. In the case of Conficker – if it does show up on your system, try this removal tool from Microsoft.
5. Never download anything that looks suspicious or comes from an unknown source.
6. If it all fails, back up your data and reload your system.
